Our Mission
Vital Resources for Vulnerable People Inc exists to glorify God by empowering vulnerable communities with life-sustaining resources. We partner with and fund Christian organizations that drill wells, develop sustainable projects, and proclaim the love of Christ - so that God's ways may be known on earth and His saving power among all nations (Psalm 67:1-2).
Our Story
Our story began as a longtime vision of our CEO to provide clean drinking water to people in need. This vision was realized by our three founders during a trip to Zambia. The Lord opened doors for Dan and Ellen to partner with a local visionary to bring a well to a village in southern Zambia, and Ellen, Dan, and Betty were part of a team of nine people who assisted in providing food for these people during a two-year drought. Three other projects to drill boreholes for people in desperate need led to the creation of a 501(c)(3) foundation that provides these resources on a more regular basis. Since then, we have seen God's leading into another project in neighboring Zimbabwe. Our team has a dream of meeting these physical needs wherever He leads while ultimately helping people to know God has seen their need and that they will get to know Jesus and the saving grace He offers.

Learn more about us! Our Team: Our CEO is Ellen Wagner. She is a retired elementary school teacher, having served both private and public schools for a total of more than three decades. Along with her husband, Dan, they have 5 children and 17 grandchildren. She has a passion for missions, especially those involving helping children - and she sponsors children through a variety of ministries which provide for their education and basic needs. Ellen has been on missions trips to Ecuador, Mexico, and most recently, Zambia. Her longtime vision of providing water to a village in need was realized during that trip to Zambia. The Lord opened doors for Ellen and Dan to become involved in projects which provide borehole drilling for those in need of water. Ellen's hope is for meeting the needs of vulnerable people, which helped to create this ministry. Our COO is Dan Wagner, a retired Air Force officer who served in leadership roles in several churches during that career. He then became a minister and has recently retired from full-time ministry, while still serving as a supply or interim minister when called upon. In addition to his ministry degree from Lincoln Christian Seminary, he also holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of South Dakota. He is a longtime supporter of missions and church planting, and he served on the board of a mission in Nigeria for several years. He has made missions trips to Nigeria and Zambia, and has preached in a church in Ukraine. In addition to his operations responsibilities with this foundation, he also serves as our liaison to supporting churches. He looks forward to visiting your church to present our work in your Sunday school or worship services. Our CFO is Betty Sidwell. Betty brings over 30 years accounting experience, including 18 years in a family-owned business and 18 years with a civil construction company. Throughout her career, she has demonstrated a strong commitment to accuracy, integrity, and excellence in her work. Attention to detail and accountability are of the utmost importance to Betty, especially when stewarding resources responsibly. She is a committed follower of Jesus Christ whose life and work are guided by faith and service. She and her husband, Doug, have also been on the mission field, visiting Zambia during the trip that helped start the vision for this ministry. Her deepest desire is to glorify God by helping others and supporting lasting, sustainable change through compassionate action.
